I also loved Tom Hatten’s block of cartoons on the weekends with Popeye, George of the Jungle, Tom Slick and Super Chicken.

I still remember growing up in Los Angeles and waking up early to watch Felix the Cat cartoons (which seemed odd juxtaposed with its lead-in of David & Goliath). What a great podcast! I always wondered why Moonlighting wasn’t in syndication either. One of the first ones I remember watching. How funny I was just talking about this…I loved Schmoo! That loveable white bowling pin ? And can’t forget Kimba the White Lion. Fox Midnight Madness reunion, I don’t know how you could ever top this episode. I can’t believe that you not only got Savage Steve Holland and Curtis Armstrong, but you got them on together! Unless you can get a Leon/Eddie Deezen/Michael J. curtis was also so much fun! thanks guys! so happy that you had savage on your show. There was an “elvis” episode that was hilarious. Side note: and i must say that eek! the cat is hilarious. I still love cartoons! i was in love with jonny quest. I can only imagine how much money I spent on frivolous Pokemon merchandise. I’m going to be showing my age (how young I am), but I have to go with Pokemon. SO glad to see Savage and Curtis getting some love! Wish the podcast was 20 mins long tho. That theme song was awesome! It was basically Batman. I’m sure this show made me late for school a lot.

The voices cracked me up, and the plots were surprisingly good for an early morning cartoon. The first cartoon I loved as a kid was “Bobby’s World”.

I loved the clean lines and George’s amazing ability to offend Jane. It was the future! There were flying cars, Rosie the robot, and freakin jetpacks. If neither of the those reasons do it for you, take into account that they did it all in style ? Not only did they play their own instruments and fight off the likes of the Misfits, they ran Starlight orphanage without fail. Worth every penny.Jem is my all time favorite cartoon because, bottom line, those bitches were badass. Cheesy, but better than any of the modern abstract non-sensical nonsense that is being passed off as kids entertainment today.
#Thundercats cartoon dvd series#
With an intriguing story of loss and survival, polarising good and evil, the folly of greed, and the constant quest for the good and justice, Thundercats, despite the 80's quality animation and repetitive music (if you watch them continuously), is still one of the best cartoon series ever. Thundercats though, I'm guaranteeing I will get through every episode and enjoy it too. I also bought another box set series of Cartoons (D&G) - couldn't watch it past the second episode as it was so bad. Number 2: The character Snarf is rivalled in annoyance only by Jar Jar Binks.

and it gets to a point where you can tell whats about to happen based on the music choice. Number 1: The music is a bit repetitive if you watch them back to back. and I'm not even past the first box of discs. Alien cat-like species, destroyed home planet, mutants, a chase through space, setting up home on a new planet, exploring said world, mystic powerful weapons and abilities, spi rits of heroes / ancestors, space bounty hunters, robot teddy bears, amazon-like women, unicorns, ancient evil mummy, space bounty hunters, salvaged space technology, Arthurian legend. Some may complain that moralising shouldn't be in cartoons, bat I say nay to them! Morality starts in youth, and Thundercats ticked so many boxes, it was a genre in its own right. Every episode (near enough) looks to address issues of character moral development, and the lead Lion-O is ever at the forefront of the learning. The cartoons of the 80's did it all they entertained with imagination, they introduced the polarising ideas of good and bad as abstract concepts, and most importantly they moralised. Cartoons these days just aren't what they used to be, today it's all nonsense and endless grotesque cutesiness.
